Land, Water, Sky, and Natural Infrastructure Plan for the Texas Hill Country

Creating a Plan with Tools for Ongoing Collaboration Among Dozens of Conservation Partners

Land and Water Connections worked with the Texas Hill Country Conservation Network to develop a natural infrastructure plan that brought together scientific data and technical expertise with the results of equity-driven community engagement. The planning process helped collaboratively define the most critical natural infrastructure systems in the Hill Country and lays out a vision for increasing investment in those systems as the region grows. The plan provides an adaptable set of tools and a starting point for ongoing collaboration and increased collective impact for the many partners leading local conservation efforts. Land and Water Connections led the overall planning process, partner engagement, analysis of non-spatial data, development of the shared vision, and preparation of the final plan.

“Amy’s writing and organizing style, responsiveness to feedback, and ability to navigate competing interests and perspectives were game-changers for the success of the project.”

“We had a phenomenal experience working with Amy and her subconsultants on the Land, Water, Skies and Natural Infrastructure Plan for the Hill Country. Amy was thorough, organized, and incredibly thoughtful in her approach. She kept project partners engaged throughout a 15 month process and handled curveballs with grace and calm. Her writing and organizing style, responsiveness to feedback, and ability to navigate competing interests and perspectives were game-changers for the success of the project. The Natural Infrastructure Plan is guiding corporate investment in conservation projects, has generated dozens of media stories, and will be a tool we can use to guide strategic conservation and inform our policy work for years to come. Look forward to working with her again, hopefully soon!”
