Colorado Front Range Urban Forestry Expansion Strategy
Creating a Blueprint for Equity-Based Regional Urban Forestry Expansion
Working with the Center for Regenerative Solutions (CRS) this project involved leading engagement with close to 40 local organizations and jurisdictions in the Colorado Front Range/Denver-Metro area to formulate a detailed, equity-centered urban forestry scale-up strategy. We focused on workforce development, community engagement, and identifying key project locations, all with the greater goal of improving climate resilience and tree equity. The coalition that was brought together for this project included local expertise in equity-based workforce development, community-centered engagement strategies, forestry project scoping and scaling, and an applied urban forestry research approach.
Our final report is a detailed resource and reference for other metro areas and regions around the country that are interested in equity-centered urban forestry scale-up strategies. It also provides an overview of the scale of funding and resources needed to achieve transformative urban forestry actions.
